By Clinton McGregor

The Clarendon police have charged 28-year-old Rory Palmer in connection with the death of Canadian national Jaeda Pauline Whitehead.

Mr. Palmer, a fisherman of Portland Cottage, was charged Wednesday with the offence of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

But investigators are expected to upgrade the charge to murder in the coming days.

Mr. Palmer's case was mentioned before the Clarendon Parish Court today.

He was remanded until June 1 when his attorney Dwight Reece is expected to apply for bail.

Ms Whitehead, who arrived in Jamaica on April 30, died in hospital on May 13, a day after she was involved in a physical altercation with Mr. Palmer who is said to be her husband.

A postmortem report suggested that she died of injuries sustained during an altercation.
