The defence team for Constable Noel Maitland has indicated that it intends to renew his bail application on June 12.
Maitland, who is charged with the murder of social media personality Donna-Lee Donaldson, was denied bail last October.
In rejecting the application, Home Circuit Court Judge, Justice Vinette Graham-Allen had said if the cop was granted bail, there was the likelihood he would abscond, interfere with witnesses, obstruct the investigation, or re-offend.
Justice Graham Allen said there are no conditions that can adequately militate against those actions.
But on Thursday morning, defence attorney Chadwick Berry told the court that Mr. Maitland had communicated some challenges.
Justice Graham Allen advised Mr. Berry that a written application for bail must be submitted on or before May 1.
Prosecutors were given the go-ahead to submit their response in writing.
Constable Maitland was remanded until June 12 when the plea and case management hearing is expected to begin.
The plea and case management hearing was initially scheduled for Thursday but failed to get off the ground after the prosecution disclosed that they received new documents on Wednesday.
The judge, who was peeved at the development, argued that she has consistently instructed that whenever a date for a plea and case management hearing is set, outstanding documents must be given to prosecutors in due time to ensure disclosure of the material before the hearing.
This, she said, would allow defence attorneys to examine the material and have further discussions with Mr. Maitland.
In addition, the prosecution informed the court that four statements are outstanding.
They are also awaiting material from the Jamaica Constabulary Force's Communication Forensic and Cybercrime Division.
Prior to adjourning, Justice Graham Allen ordered that all outstanding materials, reports, and items be submitted and disclosed on or before May 26.
