Breaches of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) leave policy have resulted in unauthorized payments of approximately J$135 million.
According to the Auditor-General, the leave policy stipulates that no rank should be paid beyond a certain number of days.
However, leave was being allowed to accumulate in excess of 500 days and payments were made for up to J$4.9 million to officers.
The Auditor-General said the leadership of the JDF was advised to exercise strict adherence to the leave policy.
The Chief of Defence Staff has since advised that the policy will be strictly adhered to.
