Jamaicans are reacting to Monday night's passing of veteran politician Donald Buchanan.
Mr. Buchanan, former People's National Party (PNP) Government Minister and Parliamentarian, died late at the University Hospital after a battle with colon cancer.
Portia Simpson-Miller, PNP President, has remembered Danny Buck as he was called as a personal friend who gave loyal support throughout her political career.
In paying tribute to the veteran PNP politician, she described Mr. Buchanan him as a nationalist as well as a dedicated politician and family man whose death is a great loss.
"I have many fond memories of him, defending me when others would harshly criticize (me). He was a very colourful politician but he was more than that once you get to know and understand him ... he was very special kind of person," Mrs. Simpson-Miller said.
She also paid tribute to Mr. Buchanan, who was also a long serving member of the Electoral Advisory Committee and the Electoral Commission, for his contribution to the PNP.
"(He was) a very loyal friend and the PNP will not be the same without Danny’s support and service," Mrs. Simpson-Miller added.
