Detainees who were being held without charge under the States of Public Emergency are now waiting to be released with the anti-crime measure to be revoked today.
Lambert Johnson, President of the Cornwall Bar Association, told Radio Jamaica News that he has received an assurance from the police that arrangements are being made to end the detentions.
Mr. Johnson had said last week that the government could face lawsuits if detainees, not charged, are not released by today (Monday).
Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced the revocation of the states of emergency in the House of Representatives last Tuesday.
This is in line with the government's commitment not to have them in place during the general election.
