Energy Minister Fayval Williams says she has requested that the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) communicate clearly with customers about the reasons for an increase in their electricity bills.
This follows complaints about exorbitant bills.
Speaking Tuesday morning on Radio Jamaica's call in programme Hotline, the Energy Minister said she has asked the utility company to communicate with customers weekly.
"The first week into the month, you should be able to say to your customer, your usage is $10,000 or whatever it is; if you continue on with the same usage, by the end of the month, your bill will be this amount."
She said that "more pro-active approach" from the company will help customers to make changes if they so desire in oder to decrease their consumption and reduce their bills.
