Fisherman accused of fatal shooting offered $1 million bail

A fisherman accused of opening fire at a birthday party killing one of his colleagues last December in Old Harbour Bay, St. Catherine, has been offered $1 million bail.

Romeo Dixon, 23, was offered bail when he appeared before the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court. He is to return on June 27.

Dixon is charged with murder, wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.

It was reported that on November 19, about 9:38 p.m., 47-year-old Oneil Foga and a woman were patrons at a birthday party, when several explosions sounding like gunfire were heard.

When the shooting subsided, Mr. Foga and the woman were seen with bullet wounds.

The police were summoned and they assisted both victims to hospital where Mr. Foga was pronounced dead and the woman admitted.

Dixon was later arrested and charged.
