Former NCB employee charged with fraud, offered bail

A former bank employee accused of leaking information on customers' accounts to members of a criminal network, was on Tuesday offered bail in the sum of $500,000 in the Home Circuit Court.

Conray Hanson was charged last year by Fraud Squad detectives during an investigation into the theft of $3 million from the credit card of Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson.

A second accused, Giovanni Gillings, was remanded until Thursday.

The two were among four persons charged during the probe into the theft of funds from the Commissioner's credit card.

The other accused are awaiting trial before the St. Andrew Parish Court.

It was reported that in February last year, the Fraud Squad was called in after it was discovered that millions of dollars had been stolen from the Commissioner's credit card in one day.

The probe led to the arrest of Mr. Hanson, an employee of NCB and Mr. Gillings who was employed to a call centre.

It is alleged that the men provided biographical data and credit card information to members of a criminal network that led to the creation of fictitious credit cards.
