Four arrested in sting operation off Constant Spring accused of abductions, robberies

Deputy Superintendent Collin Millaneise, head of Operations for the St. Andrew North Police Division

Investigators are reporting that the four suspects held during Thursday's sting operation off Constant Spring in St. Andrew have been abducting and robbing persons in the Corporate Area.

The police used footage from Jamaica Eye to intercept the Toyota Isis in which the men were travelling.

The cops were searching for the car following reports that persons were abducted and robbed after boarding the vehicle, which was being operated illegally as a taxi.

Deputy Superintendent Collin Millaneise, head of Operations for the St. Andrew North Police Division, told Radio Jamaica News that the men were nabbed while carrying out robberies.

The men tried to elude the police at Hillman Avenue but crashed into another vehicle.

When the police intercepted them, they opened gunfire and ran in different directions.

They were eventually captured and one firearm was seized.

Several cellular phones, purses and handbags, jewellery as well as cash were allegedly found in the vehicle.

DSP Millaneise said the suspects also targeted persons in other parishes.

They are to face several identification parades.
