Prime Minister Bruce Golding, as head of CARICOM, will chair the special CARICOM Governance Meeting in St. Georges Grenada Tuesday, August 17.
Te meeting is expected to, among other things, focus on proposals to improve the governance of CARICOM and advance plans for the review of the organisation of the CARICOM institutions and secretariat.
The meeting is also expected to discuss the successor to the current Secretary General, who will demit office on December 31.
The members of this sub-committee are Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines; Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago; Tillman Thomas, Prime Minister of Grenada; Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica; Bharrat Jagdeo, Prime Minister of the Republic of Guyana and Dr. Denzil Douglas, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis.
The meeting will also be the planning session for the 22nd Inter-sessional Meeting of the Conference which will be held in early 2011.
Mr. Golding will leave the country on Monday and will return on Wednesday.
During his two-day absence, Dr. Ken Baugh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, will lead the Government.
