The Duhaney Park Police have arrested a woman suspected of being the mastermind behind a home rental scam.
It’s reported that in July the woman advertised an apartment for rent on Maynard Avenue in Kingston 19. She allegedly collected funds from several persons who responded to the advertisement, claiming the money was a deposit.
It was later discovered however that the woman had no authority to rent the property.
The would-be renters were unable to recover their deposits.
After receiving several reports, the Duhaney Park Police launched an investigation and the woman was picked up at her house in the Kingston 6 area on Monday.
Her identity is being withheld as investigations are still in progress.
