Jamaica to benefit from US$40m grant to reduce poverty

Jamaica is among eight Caribbean countries to benefit from US$40 million provided by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) for poverty reduction.

Governments of the eight participating countries will provide total counterpart funding of a little more than US$6 million.

The CDB says the money will help improve access to quality education, water and sanitation, basic community access and drainage, among other things.

It will be targeted to low-income and vulnerable communities.

The programme will be undertaken from now until December 2020.
