JUTC workers back on the job

Drivers at the Jamaica Urban Transit Company, have resumed duties following an agreement between the management and the University and Allied Workers Union.

The drivers returned to work at 7 o'clock last evening.

The disgruntled drivers stayed off the job for two days to express their dissatisfaction with what they say are discrepancies in their March salary under the compensation review programme.

First Vice President of the University and Allied Workers Union Clifton Grant says the management has agreed to refund the amounts withdrawn from the workers March salary to cover an advance paid December last year.

He says negotiations will take place between the union and the management of the state-run bus company next week.
