Dancehall entertainer Laden on Monday pleaded guilty to the charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition when he appeared in the Gun Court section of the St. Elizabeth Circuit Court.

The entertainer, whose given name is Okeefe Aarons, is to be sentenced on December 15.

His two co-accused, 21-year-old Saaion Ebanks and a 16-year-old boy, were acquitted after the prosecution withdrew the case and offered no evidence.

The Black River Police reported that about 10:40 p.m. on October 28, they signalled the driver of a black Mercedes Benz to stop.

The driver complied but sped off when the police approached.

While the police were chasing the vehicle they reportedly saw an object being thrown from the sunroof.

The vehicle was intercepted and the passengers searched.

The police returned to the area where the object was thrown and retrieved a 9 millimetre pistol which contained one round of ammunition.
