The Jamaica Constabulary Force reported on Tuesday that all major crimes continue to trend downward throughout the country.
As at September 30, murders were down 12 per cent and shootings, nine per cent. The incidence of rape declined by 18 per cent and robberies, 17 per cent.
Commissioner of Police Major General Antony Anderson said interpersonal conflicts account for 21 per cent of the homicides recorded so far this year while gang related violence is responsible for 66 per cent.
