Two Jamaicans wanted by the US Justice Department for alleged drug trafficking and a policeman were among five persons arrested during Wednesday's multi-agency operations in St. Andrew and St. James.
A top level source in the Jamaica Constabulary Force told Radio Jamaica News that local police had extradition warrants for two of the detainees.
Radio Jamaica News was informed that 50-year-old Anthony Daniels, a resident of St. Andrew, is wanted in the US for alleged narcotics related offences.
The other individual wanted by US prosecutors is 60-year-old Hugh Fraser, of Westgate Hills in Montego Bay, St. James.
The other detainees are said to be associates of both men.
Mr. Daniels and Mr. Fraser have been booked to appear before the St. Andrew Parish Court for an extradition hearing.
Major Basil Jarrett, Director of Communications for the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA), told Radio Jamaica News that five locations were targeted in the operations, which commenced about 4:45 a.m. and involved US Marshalls.
Several laptops, cellphones, high-end vehicles and other equipment were also seized.
