It has been revealed that the number of unqualified senior managers at the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) is higher than initially reported.

An Auditor General's Department performance audit last year found six JUTC senior managers lacked minimum qualifications.

Elaine Hall, Deputy Managing Director of Human Resources and Administration at the JUTC, told the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Tuesday, another audit showed five more senior managers did not meet the criteria for the positions.

The company's Board of Director gave unqualified managers until December to meet the criteria but Hall said some were experiencing financial challenges in upgrading their skill sets.

"For some persons who had financial difficulties it was further extended to March of 2020. In addition to that, persons should also provide progress reports to the HR department which will then be sent to HR committee of the board to ensure that this criteria or the...policy is being maintained," she told the PAC.
