A man is dead and two others are in hospital following a two-vehicle crash on the Greenvale main road in Manchester on Sunday night.

The deceased has been identified as Llorn Powell of Balvenie in Manchester.

Mr. Powell operated a car mart on the Greenvale main road.

It's not clear what led to the crash, which occurred about 11 o'clock.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged.

Speeding is believed to be a factor.

Jones Oliphant, Chairman of the Infrastructure and Traffic Committee of the Manchester Municipal Corporation, said there is need for proper signage and the installation of rumble strips to discourage speeding on the Greenvale main road.

Mr. Oliphant, who is also councillor for the Mandeville Division, noted that Sunday night's crash happened less than a hundred metres from the entrance to Manchester High School, where motor vehicles frequently crash into its walls.
