NCB employees to resume duties tomorrow

Workers employed to the National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (NCB) who took industrial action on Monday are scheduled to return to work on Tuesday morning.  The decision was reached followong an emergency  meeting at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.  

At the end of the meeting between representatives of NCB's management and the NCB Jamaica Limited Staff Association which  represents the workers, it was agreed that the workers will go back on the job as of 6 a.m. on Tuesday and discussions will continue on June 5. The over 1,900 staff members went on strike  to press their demand for the bank to address 17 outstanding matters.

The claims include salary increases for the October 2012 to September 2014 period and new methods of paying staff who have been transferred to sales. 

Staff Association President Paul Stewart although not disclosing how much of an increase the staff was seeking said that NCB has offered five percent.
