The Lady Celtics are one win away from their first Women's National Basketball League title after taking game one of their best of three finals against the Lady Eagles.
Led by double-doubles from Peatri-Ann Buchanan and Dhanyel Johnson, the Lady Celtics who are contesting their first final, took a crucial 1-0 lead at the National Stadium Courts on Friday with a 59-51 victory. Buchanan poured in a game-high 23 points while having 11 rebounds. Game 2 is set for Sunday at 3:30 pm at the same venue.
Meanwhile, the Lady Panthers captured third after beating the Lady Warriors 56-46 in their playoff game.
The finalists for the National Basketball League could also be known on Sunday with game two of the semi-finals slated for the national stadium courts.
Defending champions Urban Knights will take a 1-0 lead into game 2 over St Georges Slayers following their commanding 78-59 victory in in game 1 on Thursday.
The Knights had four players into double digit scores on the night including vice-captain Omar Barnes with a game-high equalling 19 points.
Mid-season champions Upper Room Eagles hold the advantage against Runnin Rebels in their semi-final series after a close 66-63 win in game 1.
The Slayers and the Knights will meet at 5:00 pm, while the match between the Eagles and the Rebels is set to tip off at 6:45 pm.
