NWC prohibition order to limit water usage now in effect

By Halshane Burke

The prohibition notice announced by the National Water Commission is in effect.

This means water supplied by drought affected systems must not be used for activities that require a considerable or excessive amount of the commodity.

Any person who contravenes this order is guilty of an offence and liable for a fine or imprisonment.

Matthew Samuda, Minister with responsibility for Water and Climate Change, says the affected communities will be advised about the hard hit systems as a result of the continued dry spell.
