OCG seizes documents from NSWMA

Representatives of  the Office of  the Contractor General (OCG) have seized several documents from the offices of  the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) as part of  a probe into the award of contracts by the agency.

The documents were seized when the OCG representatives visited the NSWMA on Friday.

When contacted, NSWMA Chairman Dennis Chung said he was not aware of  the reason for the visit; however, details will be made public on Monday.

“They came in to check on some contracts that they had some concerns with. But I think it’s good for transparency. It’s good that the OCG can come in …. We are supposed to be going down there today just to see what’s happening and to speak with the management down there,” he said.

There are reports that computers were also seized from the NSWMA's audit and finance departments, but Chung was unable to confirm this.
