One Don Gang trial: Forensic expert says secret recordings not doctored

A forensic expert in the One Don Gang trial has ruled out the possibility that secretly recorded conversations among alleged members of the criminal network were tampered with.

He made the declaration while giving testimony at the trial which resumed Monday morning in the Home Circuit Court.

Earlier in the trial, a former don-turned-state witness, testified that he recorded the conversations on three cellular phones.

The certified digital forensic examiner has been assigned to analyse the cellular phones and two SIM cards.

The examiner, a police corporal assigned to the Jamaica Constabulary Force's Communication Forensic and Cybercrime Division, outlined the verification process and stated that no change was made to the data.

Responding to the prosecution on how he was able to determine whether the data was tampered with, the examiner said he did a comparison which indicated that nothing had been changed.

However, the expert, who began examining the devices on February 7, was unable to determine whether applications on the devices were downloaded by the user.

A witness from one of Jamaica's telecommunication companies is to take the stand on Tuesday.
