OUR directs Flow, Digicel to give clearer information about their packages to customers

The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) has directed telecommunications providers Flow and Digicel to give clearer information about their offerings and packages to customers.

This follows an investigation by the OUR after increased complaints from Flow and Digicel customers about unexpectedly high bills for post-paid subscribers and rapid credit depletion in the case of pre-paid subscribers.

In a media release Friday morning, the OUR said it has determined that as a general rule, information provided to customers about packages and services, should include any limitation that may apply in the use of the service.

The OUR says the mandate to the telecoms companies is set out in its latest Determination Notice released last Thursday.

It disclosed that the decisions should be implemented by telecommunications providers within four to eighteen months after publication of the Determination Notice.

The OUR says it will update the public closer to each expected implementation date so that customers can hold their telecoms providers accountable.
