Police constable arrested in connection with car stealing ring

A constable attached to the Annotto Bay police station in St. Mary has been arrested in connection with an alleged car stealing ring.

The constable was taken into custody on Saturday after he was reportedly found in possession of a stolen Toyota Probox.

It's reported that the owner of the vehicle went to the Annotto Bay police station where he saw the car that had been stolen in St. Ann in August.

The constable, who was on duty at the station, was arrested when the man provided evidence showing that he was the owner of the vehicle.

Radio Jamaica News was informed that the vehicle had on licence plates taken from a car in the Corporate Area.

Investigators from the St. Ann, St. Mary and St. Andrew Central police divisions and Tax Administration of Jamaica are involved in the probe.
