Attorney at law Bert Samuels is hoping that the upcoming visit to Jamaica by members of the British Royal family will bring into focus the need to remove the British Monarch as Jamaica's Head of State.
Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge Kate are reportedly slated to visit Jamaica in March as part of a Caribbean tour to mark the platinum jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
The visit comes ahead of the 60th anniversary of Jamaica's independence from Britain in August.
Mr. Samuels, who is Deputy Chairman of the Reparations Council of Jamaica, believes the visit is a timely reminder that Jamaica is not truly independent.
The noted attorney, speaking Tuesday on Radio Jamaica's Beyond the Headlines, added that he would like to know the stance of William and Kate on alleged racism within the royal family.
