Members of the St. Elizabeth Fire Department and others are now involved in a frantic search for the trapped operator of an excavator following an incident yesterday when a huge boulder fell on the heavy duty equipment.
The operation in Exton to locate the man, identified as 34-year-old Peter Morgan, had been expected to resume early this morning.
That search and rescue effort was delayed however as the heavy duty equipment brought in to assist in the process malfunctioned.
Up to news time mechanics were still working to repair it.
Firefighters were also assembled.
St. Elizabeth-based Excavator operator Ronnie Elliot spoke with Radio Jamaica Correspondent Rodney Longmore.
He provided a narrative regarding what possibly confronted Mr. Morgan.
"We are actually putting ourselves in the position and since we see where the tractor was we know that he was hit out of the tractor and fell somewhere in this area," he said.
Meanwhile, Carl Morgan, a distraught brother of the missing man, also spoke with Radio Jamaica News.
"I heard about the accident but I didn't know it was him. This really pain my heart."
At news time other relatives and fellow excavator operators had converged awaiting news of the outcome of the efforts to retrieve Mr. Morgan.
