The Major Investigations Division has made a breakthrough in the murder of Police Corporal Christopher Smith.
A suspect held in the case was pointed out during an identification parade on Wednesday afternoon.
The 23-year-old suspect is expected to be charged in the coming days.
He was captured at Norman Manley International Airport last Wednesday, attempting to board a flight to the Bahamas.
The cops are still searching for four other suspects.
Corporal Smith was killed by gunmen during a robbery at a gas station on East Avenue, off Beechwood Avenue, on December 6.
Corporal Smith was shot by one of the robbers when he drove into the service station to purchase petrol.
He was attached to the Kingston Western Police Division.
