Dancehall entertainer Tommy Lee Sparta has been sentenced to three years imprisonment after pleading guilty to illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
Tommy Lee was sentenced to three years on the firearm charge and two years for possession of ammunition following plea negotiations with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The sentences are to run concurrently.
The entertainer would have faced seven to 10 years if the matter went to trial.
Tommy Lee, whose given name is Leroy Russell, was charged in December last year after he was allegedly found in possession of an illegal gun and ammunition during a police operation.
The vehicle in which he was travelling was stopped by members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force Specialized Operations on Holborn Road in St. Andrew and a firearm was found in Tommy Lee's waistband.
