Two alleged Rose Town gangsters charged

By Clinton McGregor

The Kingston Western Police have laid charges against two alleged members of a gang based in Rose Town.

The men were charged Wednesday in connection with a shooting which occurred in the community last week.

Those charged are Keon Campbell, otherwise called 'Wicked', a 35-year-old auto electrician of Independence City in Portmore, St. Catherine; and 28-year-old David Simmonds, otherwise called 'Troy', a resident Tewarie Crescent in Rose Town.

The men have been charged with three counts of shooting with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, and using a firearm to commit a felony.

Investigators reported that on August 16, residents of Rose Town, including children, were along Bentley Lane, when the two men walked up and opened fire on the group.

The residents were forced to run for the lives.

No one was hurt in the attack.

The shooting stemmed from an ongoing gang conflict in Rose Town involving the Bentley Lane gang and other rival factions in the area.

A man who was listed as the main player behind the violence surrendered to the Kingston Central Police on Wednesday night.

The suspect, who goes by the alias 'Gwaan Bad', is being questioned.
