Two Westmoreland men killed in reported shootout with police

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched an investigation into the fatal shooting of two men during a reported confrontation with the police in Spring Garden, Westmoreland on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The deceased are 25-year-old Romario Dawkins and Dean Woolery, both from the community.
 
It was reported that sometime around 12:30 p.m., a team of police was on patrol in a marked police unit when they signalled a motor car with two men aboard to stop.
 
The men reportedly exited the vehicle and opened fire at the police, resulting in a shootout.
 
The two men were shot and injured.
 
They were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.
 
Two firearms were recovered from the scene.
