UIC President Joseph Patterson offered bail

Attorney Gavin Stewart

Joseph Patterson, the president of the United Independents' Congress, who was arrested on Wednesday at an anti-vaccination protest in downtown Kingston, has been offered bail.

Mr. Patterson spearheaded a protest against the Government's COVID-19 vaccination programme, despite a warning from the police that no permit would be granted.

His attorney, Gavin Stewart, told Radio Jamaica News that the UIC president was charged with several breaches of the Disaster Risk Management Act, the Pubic Order Act as well as resisting arrest.

Mr. Stewart maintained that his client staged a "peaceful demonstration" and "categorically denies wrongdoing".
