More details have emerged about Wednesday night's incident off West Bay Farm Road in Waterhouse, St. Andrew, which resulted in an unidentified man being killed.
The police say four men were shot during separate gun battles.
The incident started with a confrontation between rival gangs which resulted in two men being shot and injured.
A police/military team on patrol heard the explosions and confronted the shooters.
This led to another gunfight.
Two men were shot, one later died.
Senior Superintendent Kirk Ricketts, head of the St. Andrew South Police Division, said the men are known to the police.
SSP Ricketts told Radio Jamaica News that it is believed that the gun battle between the gangs stemmed from another shooting in Waterhouse three weeks ago.
