UPDATE: Three killed, multiple injured in Montego Bay attack

The police are reporting that ten people were shot when gunmen carried out an attack at the intersection of McCatty Street and Hart Street in downtown Montego Bay, St. James.
 
Three of the injured persons died.
 
A ten-year-old girl and several other bystanders were among the injured.
 
The girl, who was shot in the head, is said to be in serious condition.
 
Five vehicles were also damaged by bullets.
 
It was reported that about 2:15 p.m. gunmen travelling in a Toyota Corolla opened fire on four men and a woman in a Toyota Mark X.
 
The Mark X collided with a taxi and then crashed into a supermarket.
 
One of the passengers in the Mark X ran but was chased and shot dead by the gunmen. 
 
The other passengers in the Mark X were taken to the hospital where two of the men were pronounced dead.
 
The woman and another man were admitted in stable condition.
 
Their attackers fled.
 
Assistant Commissioner Clifford Chambers, head of Area One Headquarters, told Radio Jamaica News that the gunmen are members of a Montego Bay-based gang. 
 
He said an illegal firearm was recovered following the incident.
