With there now being a significant focus on the integration of artificial intelligence into everyday life, aerospace engineer and President of the University of Technology, Dr. Kevin Brown is challenging regional government to establish home-grown technologies.

Dr. Brown, referencing the volatility and uncertainties currently coming out of the United States, says emerging economies like Jamaica must become self-reliant and foster opportunities for innovation.

The UTech President, speaking Wednesday at the Organization Development Transformation Week Conference, called for the government to move beyond rhetoric and pump more funding into local technology start-ups.

The Jamaican Government established the National AI Task Force to leverage AI to drive national development, enhance public services, and foster economic growth.

The task force submitted its report to Cabinet in February.
