In light of security concerns at the University of the West Indies, Mona, the administration says it will be meeting with students on Wednesday afternoon to have the issues ventilated.

Campus registrar, Dr. Donovan Stanberry, confirmed on Wednesday morning that a group of students was recently robbed.

However, Dr. Stanberry said the security apparatus has been beefed up.

"Our deputy principal and the director to whom the security portfolio reports to will be engaging our students this evening to bring them up to date and to hear from them whatever other issues they have," he said.

The campus registrar said the engagement with students will be ongoing.

"One of the things that people must realise is that the University of West Indies is not a sterile area, we're part and parcel of the Jamaican society which unfortunately is riddled by all kind of issues, robbery, crime, etc. So we, from time to time, will have flare up on campus," he admitted.
