The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, (ODPEM), is to seek the assistance of the University of the West Indies, Mona, to determine the chemical substance emitted in the air on Thursday.
The mystery fumes which affected sections of Portmore and the Port of Kingston, resulted in five persons being hospitalised.
Deputy Director General of the ODPEM, Richard Thompson says the agency is still trying to determine the nature of the substance to which the public was exposed.
He says the ODPEM will be seeking help from the UWI as the disaster agency continues to test the air quality.
