Vaz urges public patience following deaths of 2 men in wheel well of JetBlue plane

Transport Minister Daryl Vaz

Transport Minister Daryl Vaz is urging patience as the probe continues in response to the deaths of two men whose bodies were found in the wheel well of a JetBlue aircraft.

The aeroplane had made several stops including Jamaica before the bodies were discovered during a routine inspection at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Mr Vaz, in response to widespread interest in the matter, told Radio Jamaica News that, with the probe in its early stage, it is better to allow the process to play out, noting that "anything said at this point would be speculative."

While there has been talk that the two men who died might be Jamaicans, Mr Vaz stressed that up to this point there has been "no confirmation in relation to the nationalities of the two deceased by the authorities, and secondly, the JetBlue plane travelled to several destinations, including Jamaica, during that period."

Accordingly, he said it was prudent to "wait patiently and get the facts out first, and not speculate."
