T&T denies interfering in Antigua & Barbuda affairs over missing Trinidadian

Trinidad & Tobago has denied allegations that it was seeking to interfere in the internal affairs of Antigua & Barbuda over the search for a missing Trinidadian national.

Thomas Vasquez, 21, went missing while travelling back and forth between Antigua and Barbuda to work on a marijuana farm.

Trinidad & Tobago's Ministry of Foreign & CARICOM Affairs says at no time was instruction given to become involved in either the search for the missing man or any attendant issues.

It says the Minister, in keeping with his duty, directed Ministry officials to engage with their counterparts in Antigua to secure accurate and timely information regarding the welfare of Mr. Vasquez.

It adds that such an engagement is both standard diplomatic practice and a reflection of the government's unwavering commitment to the safety, dignity, and rights of all citizens abroad.
