Cavalier climb to second in JPL standings

2021 champions Cavalier have climbed into second place in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) following their come-from-behind 2-2 draw with second from bottom Faulkland in the feature Monday night match at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.

Jelani Nicholson gave Faulkland a surprise 15th minute lead and they held that advantage heading into the break.

It wasn't until the 59th minute before Cavalier drew level through a brilliant free kick from Dwayne Atkinson.

Rondell Thomas then put Faulkland ahead once again with a cheeky finish as he lobbed goalkeeper Jeadine White in minute 70.

However, Ronaldo Robinson snatched a point for Cavalier in stoppage time for them to avoid the upset. Cavalier moved two places up top second on 37 points, one behind leaders Arnett Gardens.

Earlier, Molynes United beat bottom placed Chapelton Maroons 3-1 at the same venue to move one place up to 9th in the standings.

Molynes went into the half time break leading 3-0 thanks to strikes from brothers Jeremy and Nicholas Nelson, and one from Jason Wright.

Chapelton got what turned out to be their consolation early in the second half through Mark Lewis.
