Distin breaks outdoor national high jump record

Jamaica has a new outdoor record holder in the women's high jump thanks to Lamara Distin. The Texas A & M student cleared 1.96 metres at the 94th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas on Saturday.

Distin's 1.96 erases the 1.93 set by Sheree Francis in 2010 and puts her 5th all time on the all time best collegiate marks in the event.

It's also a Texas A and M all time record and a world championships qualifying mark. Distin is the reigning national champion, having scaled 1.90 metres at the championships in Kingston last year.
