Ecuador had a goal ruled out, however they would not be denied as they defeated hosts Qatar 2-0 in the opening game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Sunday.
Just when Ecuador thought they took the lead in the third minute through their captain Enner Valencia it was called back due to an offside ruling by VAR.
However, 13 minutes later, Valencia converted from the spot for the lead.
Ecuador pushed for a second and got it when their captain popped up once again to double their advantage in the 31st minute.
Three matches will be contested on Tuesday as England face Iran (8:00 am Jamaica time); Senegal oppose The Netherlands at 11:00 and the United States will lock horns with Wales at 2:00 pm.
