Forty-six medals for Jamaica at Carib Swim Champs

Jamaica's swimmers returned to the island on Sunday, having exceeded expectations at the Caribbean Islands Swimming Championship in the Bahamas. The team won 46 medals for a fourth place finish in the medal standings.

The haul consists of 14 gold, 21 silver and 11 bronze medals. Coach Gillian Millwood said a modest haul of 29 medals had been predicted for the team, but performances from local based swimmers such as Jordane Payne and Cameron Brown provided a boost.

Payne who was eighth in the Carifta 200 metres butterfly final in March, clinched silver in personal best 2 minutes, 17.98 seconds.

Brown swam a fast one minute, 10.01 seconds to break the national age group 100 metres breaststroke record which stood since 2001.
