Jamaica National Sports Registry to have soft launch in April

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Spencer Darlington

Plans for a new initiative, the Jamaica National Sports Registry, are in the pipeline to aid with the development and promotion of sports on a national level.

The registry will be launched next month to provide a framework to strategically support the priorities of the National Sports Policy for the coordinated development of sports and to promote opportunities for economic development and prosperity through sports.

This has come about due to the national council on sport which had such responsibility, becoming dormant for the past 6 years.

Minister of Sports, Olivia Grange in confirming recently that the National Council on Sports had become dormant, revealed that a restructuring exercise is currently underway regarding a merger of the various national sporting agencies.

The Jamaica National Sports Registry will have a soft launch next month.
