Kai Kelly of Jamaica College was in superb form, as he lowered the previous Class 3 100m record of 10.69 seconds to 10.60 on day two of the ISSA Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.
Silver medallist Jevaney Findlay of St Jago also dipped under the previous record, clocking 10.67 seconds, while Rajaun Romelly also of St Jago, was third in 10.87 seconds.
In the girls Class 2 100m final, Shanoya Douglas of Muschett High claimed gold, destroying the field in 11.32 seconds. Natrece East of Wolmer’s and Adora Campbell of St Jago were second and third in 11.59 and 11.66 respectively.
In the Class 1 final, Sabrina Dockery clocked a personal best 11.08 seconds for gold, becoming the fifth fastest Jamaican junior of all time.
Donielle Lewis was second with 11.43 seconds, while Renecia Edwards 11.54 seconds, was good enough for third.
There was an anti-climatic end to the Class 1 boys blue ribband event, as Gary Card who ran a personal best of 10.06 seconds in the semi-finals, could only manage 10.28, despite appearing to be in a state of discomfort from the midway point of the race.
Card finished ahead of Tyreece Foreman of St George’s College 10.29 seconds and Excelsior's Malike Nugent 10.35 seconds.
Earlier, Kingston College’s Julius Itubo erased the previous mark in Class 3 boys 1500 metres by seconds speeding to 4 minutes, 05.15 seconds.
In the boys Class 2 1500m final, Thywaine Sterling won William Knibb’s first gold medal since Usain Bolt in 2003, winning in 4 minutes, 06.24 seconds.
The Class 1 boys long jump final saw Jamaica College’s Michael-Andre Edwards’ 4th round jump of 7.57 metres taking him to another Champs title.
