KC and Hydel lead "Champs" points table after day 3

Commentary by Spencer Darlington on the Class 1 boys and girls 400m finals

Kingston College and Hydel High are the respective boys and girls leaders entering the 4th and penultimate day of the ISSA Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Championships at the National Stadium.

Defending champions Kingston College lead the boys standings with 99.5 points ahead of Calabar 76, Jamaica College 54, St Jago 34, Excelsior 33 and Munro College 30 points, rounding out the top 6 schools so far. Hydel are ahead on the girls side with 88 points.

Defending champions Edwin Allen 84 points, Holmwood Technical 83, St Jago 48, Immaculate 35 and Vere Technical 29 points, round out the top 6 schools so far. Ten finals are set to be contested on day 4.

Meanwhile, it was a one-two finish for Kingston College in the Class 1 boys 400m final on Thursday. Tajh-Marques White 45.84 seconds, got the better of teammate and defending champion Marcinho Rose 45.90, relegating Holmwood's Omarie Williamson to third in 46.66 seconds.

In the Class 1 girls equivalent, Abigail Campbell of Hydel retained her title in 53.03 ahead of Holmwood's Abrina Wright and Kerry-Ann Kerr of Edwin Allen, both finishing in 53.53.

Calabar secured a quinella in the Class 3 boys one lap final courtesy of Rajeve Allison 50.33 seconds and Justin McKoy 50.66.

It was a similar scenario for Hydel in the girls Class 2 final, as Nastassia Fletcher with a new personal best of 52.82 seconds, won ahead of teammate Maddison Campbell 54.44 seconds.
