On a highly controversial 4th day at the 2025 ISSA Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Championships at the National Stadium, Lacovia High School’s top sprinter Sabrina Dockery was reinstated in the Class 1 girls’ 200m, having earlier been disqualified along with Shevi-Ann Shim of Immaculate Conception.
Both athletes who were initially disqualified for false starting in the semi-finals, later contested a race together, with Dockery advancing to Saturday’s final.
Meanwhile, Excelsior’s Kishawn Hoffman created an upset to win the Class 1 boys 400m hurdles in 50.97 seconds. The girls’ equivalent went to Edwin Allen’s Kelly-Ann Carr who clocked 57.41 seconds.
Elsewhere KC’s Brian Kiprop and Taiefa Gowe of Holmwood Technical retained the respective 2000m steeplechase titles.
Gowe broke a 13 year old record by clocking 6 minutes, 52.82 seconds to break the previous mark of 7:01.07.
In the field, Jade-Ann Dawkins of St Jago won the girls triple jump open for the third consecutive year after cutting the sand at 13.11 metres.
Meanwhile, Kingston College and Hydel are the respective leaders entering the final day of competition. KC currently have 135.5 points, followed by Calabar 115, JC 90, St Jago 59 and Excelsior 54 completing the top five.
Hydel are out front in the girls section on 127 points, ten clear of defending champions Edwin Allen. Holmwood on 106, St Jago 59 and Immaculate on 55, complete the top five.
