Junior football player signs contract with Belgium club

Jamaican teenager Leon Bailey created history by signing the biggest contract for a junior football player at Racing Club Genk in Belgium.

Bailey who is a product of the Phoenix All Stars Football Academy actually signed on the dotted line three months ago, but the deal could not be announced until one month before he turns 17 in early august.

The prolific young striker had attracted interest from a number of clubs across Europe after his exploits in Austria, Germany and Belgium where he impressed with his goal scoring alongside fellow Phoenix club-mate Kyle Butler. 

Another young Jamaican Jason Wright, formerly of Wolmer's and who played in the 2011 FIFA Under 17 World Cup in Mexico is also a standout at another Belgian team, Club Brugge. 

Four other Jamaican players, Shawn Laws, Chevaughn Marsh, Jevaughn Hutchinson, Odane Walters will be making the trip to Belgium in a few weeks time for trials.
