President of the Jamaica Basketball Association (JABA) Paulton Gordon is looking to expand the reach of basketball around the island when the National Basketball League (NBL) tips off on June 17.
Gordon says they are looking to have matches in areas starved of competitive basketball. The league resumes after a 3 year absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, for the first time in the NBL, the teams will be playing a total of over one hundred games. Most of the games will be played at the National Stadium Courts with a few set for the Montego Bay Cricket Club, while some exhibition matches will be contested at Buckfield in Ocho Rios.
The launch for this season's NBL took place on Wednesday at the Sports Development Foundation (SDF) headquarters.
