Netball Jamaica President Dr Paula Daley-Morris says no changes will be made to the rules for this season's JNBS Open League.
Jamalco's coach Winston Nevers has criticised one of the rules governing the competition whereby each team is not allowed to use more than three players who are at the elite level.
As a result of most teams having their quota of three elite players, several current and former national players have been unable to participate in the ongoing competition.
In speaking with RJR Sports, Dr Daley-Morris sought to justify the reasoning behind the current stipulation.
“We had to restructure the competitions that we have in Jamaica so that when the national players go into a conditioning period it’s a true conditioning period and they are not playing leagues all over the place and when we take them through for a World Champs you won’t have people peaking at the beginning or in the middle of a championship. That’s what we are trying to achieve ultimately. To do that we have to take some tough decisions and some risks,” said the local netball boss.
However, Dr Daley-Morris added that adjustments would be implemented in mid August for the 2017 JNBS Open competition.
